The Dolly Truck Project
This is a combination hand truck and mover's dolly. It is targeted towards professionals in the moving industry and homeowners; particularly those who wish to save space in their garage or storage shed. By combining these two tools, the need for separate implements is reduced or in many cases negated.
Using the Dolly-truck is very simple. When the user has a need for a hand truck, say, a homeowner moving boxes, the Dolly-truck will function like any other hand-truck on the market. But, what happens when all of the boxes are loaded and it’s time to begin moving heavy furniture? Typically, another piece of equipment (a mover’s dolly) is needed. Not with the Dolly-truck. With this tool the mover’s dolly is integrated into the hand truck. You simply loosen the four bolts on the handle and base section and remove the mover’s dolly. Viola, you’re back to work enabling you to complete the task quicker.
The Dolly-truck has three basic components. The base, at the bottom, is where, on a typical hand truck, the boxes would be loaded. It is made of a steel plate, some tubing, and two wheels with an axle. The center section, which, on a normal hand truck, would just be made of steel tubing, is the mover’s dolly in my design. It is made of steel tubing, two cross members covered with carpet remnants to protect its valuable cargo, and four caster wheels. The last component is the handle, again made of steel tubing, much like an ordinary hand truck.
